Thanks for your well wishes. I need some better luck with this truck. The instructions for the valve even says not to tighten using the nipple bolt and to use the body.

Inline Tube shipped me a replacement line. And the strangest thing happened. IT IS CORRECT! Only took three tries. One with LMC and two with Inline Tube who supplies LMC. I guess the smiley face was a good sign. They fold the fuel line, so I am not sure why they used such a big box this time.

I installed the fuel line. Perfect fit! Now I can remove the hard line I added to the fuel tank since this line comes out right in the middle of the tank.

Tank is prepped and ready to install. The last thing I did was remove my hard line modification and cleaned the sending unit connector one last time. I also gave it some touch up sprays of rust preventer where the hard line was covering the tank. The rubber fuel line will be cut to fit after it is under the car. I wont leave the fuel line that long.

New stuff looks soooo good on these trucks! Glad it's getting more complete. I really like the documentation you have going on. ON a lot of Facebook posts, the buyer has that first set of photos you have then starts asking how big a tire they can fit, or what kinda stereo, or how they gonna build their 460. This revival is showing the real step and frustrations involved and not how to put $3000 worth wheels and tires on a truck that the bed is rusted off of and doesn't run.

Took an intermission to paint parts again. This time I used heat resistant paint that should be fuel resistant too. But I didn't use high heat primer. Well I put it in the oven to set it and it all went well so hopefully it will be fine. I really don't need the heat resistance but the fuel resistance. I cooled the paint between heat cycles as instructed on the can. I used my new battery powered fan that I got on sale at Northern Tool. It comes with the battery. The battery is worth more then the price I paid for the fan alone!

Fuel tank is going in! Connections are made so it can be slowly raised up. I used STUF Dielectric Waterproofing Grease for the sending unit connection to prevent contamination getting to the connection. Link is provided below. I had some left over from my roof antenna project. I may cut the fuel line even shorter after it is raised up so it is as short as possible. I think I can get to the connection from the stainless steel line without too much difficulty. The vent and fuel line was easy enough but the filler neck was a pain in the butt to slip the rubber hose over the neck when you are working from your back reaching up.

The new tank straps had to be formed to fit. They come straight. I had to use a jack and a 2x4 to help form the shape. I then marked the rub points to install insulation so it is not metal to metal. After I removed the straps after forming I kept the tank held up with ratchet straps so I can treat the bottom with rust preventer where the straps will be and treat the whole bottom. After I install the metal straps and remove the ratchet strap I will spray again where the ratchet strap was. The sun was beating down the whole time. It is getting warmer now summer is almost here.

Straps are almost ready. I installed a waterproof EVA foam to insulate it from vibration and rubbing. Link provided below. I will spray the ends that I can't access when it is installed with rust preventer before installing. I am letting the tank set up now since I sprayed the protection on it where the straps will go.

I feel better knowing the fuel system is not in question anymore. It is a 100 percent new fuel system if you don't count the carb. Almost time for its first start. I will add fuel to the tank after the metal straps are in.

Be sure to look at that post on here in main section on the chinese replacement carbs - might be an idea if the carb proves troublesome. I spent 3 years working for NC state motorcycle program and saw nearly every thing that could go wrong on 250cc motorcycle carbs. And the thing was that MOST all of them would come clean and work again with spray or soaking in carb dip. I know there are differences, but my thing is how easy they were to bring back with a good cleaning. I used compressed air, torch tip cleaners and a taillight wire strand for the smallest passages. The worst carbs were where a dealership would try to repair them using or drilling oversize jets and such as that. First best step to me is remove, dismantle, and clean every passage. But only once you see that there is an issue. Old fuel left in them is the worst thing that can happen. It can turn all sorts of ugly. Hopefully you won't have to go too far with that. And you will be pumping clean fuel into it.

Thank you Gary. Not really on much of a roll, just didn't post for a few days. Every day I get a little done but it adds up. I guess a little progress every day really does make a difference. But one of my favorite quotes is from Pudding in Oklahoma. "Sitting on your ass won't finish your project." Link to his channel provided. https://www.youtube.com/c/PuddinsFabShop/videos

I got some experience rebuilding carbs when I rebuilt four carbs on my 1998 Suzuki Bandit project. It also sat for many years. I purchased a rebuild kit but I will try to run it first.
