Hi. I tried to lube the mechanism for the rear window. The new oil helped but I still have to assist the window to move with pushing/ pulling the glass. Thanks for your tips Gsmblue 🙂. The last days we have moved from Peshierga at the Garda sea to Gaschurn, Austria. Stresa, Lago Maggiore Tomorrow its more beautiful roads before we end up in V8 Hotel, Stuttgart, Germany.
Greetings Stein

Beautiful scenery! That road along Lago Maggiore looks like the same one we were on in a bus last fall going from Lugano to Tirano, from the end of the Gotthard Express to the beginning of the Bernina Express. But that goes along Lago Lugano, not Lago Maggiore, so it isn't the same one - it just looks like it.
Austria is one of my favorites, but I've not been to Gaschurn. But it has to be beautiful!

Hi.
We are back home. No problems with Eddie except the rear window. The trip was 3000 miles. Gaschurn is the start of the Silvereta alpenstrasse in Tirol, Austria. We had planned for several alp passes but due to bad weather they were closed. Here is a wall of stones built for protection against avalanche. Back in Germany , NeuschwansteinTechnik Museum Sinsheim Rothenburg, Luneburg, Lubeck And a diner in Tretten, Norway It was a nice trip. Greetings Stein

Cool pics!!!
That's an interesting picture of Neuschwanstein. I remember seeing it that way, though. As for Rottenburg, did you take the night watchman tour? We absolutely loved the place! Sure glad you had no problems with Eddie - other than the rear window. You prepared him quite well.

Hi.
Gary. Was not aware of the night tour. Noticed though there was some US tourists in town. How did you get there ? Well, finally home so time to fix the rear window motor. It is pretty straight forward to get the mechanism out of the tailgate. Drive the motor to get access to the 4 bolts holding the assembly. Disconnect the sliders from the window and the electrical connector. The electrical connector also needed a cleaning. It had failing connection at times. Drowe the motor again to resting position. Relieving spring pressure. The toothed plastic wheel had a crack and the plastic rods were crushed. The mechanism and plastic gliders looked good so I replaced the gears in the motor. Compared a new motor I have for the passenger side door with the motor from the tailgate. They are the same and not the same. The new motor is sold as a replacement for both positions. After cleaning up the mechanism and covering everything with Fluid Film and new grease on the moving parts the window goes up and down effortlesly. Next was a new speedometer cable. The old started making a ticking sound during our trip to the Alps. A 92" long cable fits fine.Found a new o-ring to replace the old cracked one. Will see later if it works.. Electric speed censor ? Its for the cruise controll I guess.New cable installed. Went for a test drive yesterday. Everything works fine. But there is a faint ticking sound coming from the ventilation fan. More layers to peel.... Greetings Stein.

Stein - We got there via car. This was a 4-week vacation where we flew into Naples and saw the Amalfi coast. Took a train to Florence and spent time there. Rented/hired a car there and drove to Pisa to pick up or son & DiL. Drove north of there to a rented villa and used it as a base to visit bunches of places in Italy, including Florence, the Cinque Terra, & Orvieto.
After the kids left we drove to Lake Garda. From there north through Fussen and then the Romantic Road, which was boring. Then Rottenburg, and finally Bacharach where we stayed 4 days and drove up and down the Rhine visiting cute little German villages. But we discovered that 4 weeks was just a bit too much. Anyway, good job on the rear window. But looking at that drive it is amazing that it worked at all. I'll bet it is like new now.

remove the blower assembly from the housing and check for leaves and debris. take the opportunity to vacuum out all that you can reach in every possible duct coming and going. if you do find any leaves, pull the blower resister also and prove it to be clean.

Hi.
That was quite a trip . I agree 4 weeks are long. And the amount of people and traffic in those parts of Europe is at times overwhelming for a man from north western Norway🙂. Greetings Stein.

Hi Mat.
Checked the blower motor and ducts. All were clean. I had cleaned them and the resistor before. It is the fan hitting the inside of the housing that causes the noise. //https://photos.app.goo.gl/B1Y57grc4jebpYyu5"> Made a gasket that is almost 2 mm thick to move the fan a little out of the housing. Also gave the bearings in the motor a drop of (the last ?) oil. Its a Motorcraft motor, maybe the original ? It has some play back and forward in the axle. Probably what makes it reach the inside of the housing. Heres back in with extra gasket.//https://photos.app.goo.gl/Le7X3nGwzQXv4r3X9"> Time will show how long this repair lasts. Today its nice and sunny so will take a little ride later. Greetings Stein

Stein - I wouldn't have thought that movement in & out of the shaft would cause it to hit. I'd have thought that runout on the bearing/fan or having the motor mounted too far to one side would do it. But I hope you've fixed it.

Hi.
It is probably a combination of both. I tried to move the fan to the left but it would still rattle. Greetings Stein

Hi.
After a sunny day its raining heavy again. 15'C. Lately I have smelled " wet carpet " . So after work today ( no rain then ) I looked under the carpet. Driver side. And almost the whole flat under was wet. And up to the oval lid. Found no signs of water coming in from under the lid. But the sealing over this little hole and claws was broken. This is a clip holding the speedometer wire. From the under side I sprayed the clip with a lot of body protection (tectyl) to try to seal the water out. Inside new sealing. Hope this will fix the problem with water under the carpet 🙂. Greetings Stein

Hi.
A few days after this repair I found a little puddle of water on the floor. Had not used Eddie since the repair either. Looked like the water had come down the inside of the firewall. Took of the fresh air intake grille. Under I found it had started to rust under the sealing. I found 2 holes🙁 Cleaned the whole length and treated it with rustkiller. New sealant and a copper plate over the hole Finally 2 layers of black enamel paint to seal it. This was 2 weeks ago. Hope this has fixed the leaking. The weather forecast promises a lot of rain tomorrow here in Oslo. Starting on the ride home tomorrow morning Greetings Stein

I'd be careful with copper.
It is the more noble of two metals and will eat the iron right out from underneath it if it gets wet. (You're making a battery)

Hi.
I did not know that😱. I thought copper would be ok because it does not rust like steel. I better fix it again soon. Thanks for your help. Greetings Stein

Hi.
We are approaching autumn and its cooler and more rain. But got the copper got out for steel. Lately my driver side door lock started to malfunction. My tape repair had failed. Luckily I found the brushes in the dirt in the bottom of the door. This time I used J-B Weld to put it together. Here together with the passenger side that looked ok.But the covers and switches are really brittle and broken. So I have to replace some of them. To get the switches out of the door panel press straight in on the locking springs. That will release them.DONT use force on the plastic😩After putting the door lock motors back in the doors the driver side one worked opposite of the passenger side. When pressing Lock the passenger side locked but the driver side unlocked😯. I had the gear off when repairing the driver side motor. But I cant figure out how that could change the mode of operation. I ended up with " modifying" the connection at the bottom of the motor so I could connect the power connector turned 180' . Well it works now. I have 2 new motors but I found out the connection pins in them sits closer than in the originals.🙁. Ultrapower 746147. Though they were said to fit -86 Bronco they dont. But Eddie runs good and I am playing a little with the carburetor. But today its no weather for cruising.
Greetings Stein

Facebook just notified me that 6 years ago I was in Stavanger, and it was much cooler there than here in Oklahoma. So since you are farther north than Stavanger I can easily see how your weather is cool and wet. 👍
But your repairs look good. The JB Weld should hold nicely. And reversing the wires is what I’d have done. Go for a drive!

Hi.
Autumn is here with rain, sun and cloudy weather. First snow has hit the highest tops. But it will go. Top temps mostly between 40'f and 50'f. Eddie runs good. After changing jets ( again) in the carburator he is at 12,7 - 14,7 mpg. Local or long distance driving. The sticks have come out for snow ploughing. Changed oil and filter, before a wash. Then he is ready for 6 months rest. Waiting for the switch to InVision🙂. Good work👍. Greetings Stein

Looks good, Stein. But I hope you didn't get the coffee mixed up with the oil.
And if you can get to 14.7 MPG you have it tuned very well.
