Here is the OEM handle I got in this thread:

Looks pretty much the same, so something is a little crooked. Or just the way it is, didn't notice when I took the old one off. The upside and a big one to me is that the OEM handle works much better.

The aftermarket had a catch on the right side when opening it.

Maybe something in the tailgate is slightly off?

In my limited experience the NOS handles have been much sturdier than the Dorman ones.
