Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some clarity on the Saginaw pump brackets and what will bolt into my configuration. I have an 84 351W. What years of E-series am I looking for (and can I use 150, 250 and 350)? Thanks!

If you want to continue using V-belts then you're going to find a Windsor engined Econoline of similar vintage.
The 302 went to EFI in 1985 (I believe) while the 351HO didn't until '87. I am not so certain about the Windsor engines, but in the case of my 460 the mounts were different depending if you had an AC compressor piggybacked on top, or no AC, like mine. Also, the standoff/bracket bolted to the front of the cylinder head is different than the mount for a C2 pump (on my 460) Pulleys do not interchange between Saginaw and C2 pumps.

It's good to know what years of van I'm looking for. That helps the online JY search.
If you don't mind me asking a follow-up question, my understanding is that there is no good aftermarket alternative for the JY bracket. So why do I see things like this posted on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/351-FORD-WINDSOR-POWER-STEERING-BRACKET-KIT-SAGINAW-PUMP-ALUM-WATER-PUMP/173630874469?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160811114145%26meid%3D9556d8f040434bab8206981e47ca0c38%26pid%3D100667%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D173630874469%26itm%3D173630874469%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2334524&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042

Honestly, I haven't been looking for 351W Saginaw brackets, or why it wouldn't fit a 302.
Listing says "with Aluminium water pump" Does it come with an aluminium water pump, or only fit with their aluminium water pump? I tend to like stock part applications so I can go anywhere and ask for a power steering belt for a 1986 E-350 with a 460. But maybe you keep the sleeve in your glove compartment so you always have the right number at hand. It does look like it should work! 50% "would recommend" is not confidence inspiring.

Thanks Jim. I'm grasping at straws. Tough to find an E-series that old at a JY or salvage near me.

Well, I'm no 'expert' .
I can only say what's worked for me, and try to point out what has caught me up in the past. I hope you don't have to go through a bunch of stuff to make this work for you!

I found a yard that has the saginaw power steering bracket pulled. All they know is that it came off of an 84 E-150. If that was a 351, that would be carbed, but if it was a 302 it would be EFI with serpentine. I don't know what the v-belt bracket is supposed to look like so I'm trying to avoid buying the wrong one. Does anyone have a picture?

I felt certain EFI was a late year option in '84 and not standard until '85???
It must be sitting on a shelf if the yard doesn't know whether the engine has/d a carburetor. I'm sorry. I don't have any pictures of a V-belt V/S polygroove EFI engine. I thought the power steering bracket was all part of the big aluminum casting used on EFI trucks? The pump bracket doesn't have to be adjustable when there is a tensioner.

To be perfectly honest, I just don't know. There are lots of dead links on FSB about the Saginaw swap so it's hard to find info. Looks like everybody did the swap in 2004 and I'm late to the party.
If I get a pic beforehand from someone, great. If not, I'll buy the part, post a picture, and let everyone else point out why it's obviously the wrong part. That way I'll at least know what to look for next time.

Well, you definitely don't want one for a 300/6!
Honestly, I can only show you mine. I don't have anything Windsor....

Yeah, the 300 six Saginaw bracket is waaaay different all the way around. It isn’t going to do you any good on a Windsor.
The two Windsor brackets from Ford (engine support bracket and pump bracket) should be purchased together, from the same donor if possible. I somehow got lucky and bought a V8 pump bracket that mated with my C2 support bracket. Normally the arc of the adjustment slot will not line up, so there may be 3” arc and 3.25” arc versions out there. You wouldn’t want to end up with one of each. It would also help to get the pulley from the same van and have everything in one shot. There are quite a few aftermarket Saginaw conversion brackets and whole pump kits available for the 289/302/351 but they are likely more costly than a junkyard take off from an econoline. But that is at least an option for Windsor owners... unlike those of us with the 300 six and IDI’s. We pretty much need to get lucky at the salvage yards.

I don't suppose you can point me to one of these 351W Saginaw conversion kits that you are referring to? I wouldn't mind paying a little more for fabricated and reman stuff, but I'm having problems finding anything that's specifically for a V-belt 351W. Everything I'm finding says it for serpentine (like the Desolate one) or only works on 79 and prior MYs.

I found this site before I found the AC brackets for my truck in my local pick n pull.

$100 seems a bit steep for a water-cut piece of stock that's been through the tumbler and a few screws with washers, but what do I know?
Do you know which of the many, many Saginaw variants are used with the CVF bracket? I looked at this company when I found my van bracketry. They did not have nearly as much to offer almost a decade ago.

No, don’t really know anything about them. Hoping it might help. Too bad they don’t have as much as they used to.

Dane, I'm saying that CVF have many more offerings than they used to.
I was fortunate to get my bracketry and pump so complete. The Sag was a very worthwhile improvement for me.

I think I’ve got the bracket and pulley and a Saginaw core. Supposedly this came off an 84 5.0 E150. There is no tensioner. Is there supposed to be one?
