There was a Mercury pickup at one of our car nights a few weeks back. I've seen a few of them, but never really paid much attention. I knew they stopped making them sometime in the 1960's, but that was all I knew about them really. It was more of a dual badging thing...much like Chevy and GMC I'd say. They were long gone by the Bullnose era.

Interesting...and I didn't know this until I just searched, but it looks like the Mercury trucks were mostly a Canadian thing? I never knew;). Seeing one in the PNW seems about right...geographically speaking;).

I just took a quick look online, and there's probably a dozen or more Mercury pickups for sale across Canada right now. This one below would be right about the end of the line of production I'd say...

My understanding was that some Canadian dealerships were Mercury only in the 40’s-60’s, and in order to be able to market and sell pickup trucks Ford had to badge some as M100 Mercury etc., they had unique tailgates, emblems and mercury badged trim, but were otherwise identical to the Ford versions. The last ones were of the bump side 67-72 body style, so no Mercury Bullnose trucks.

Well today I learned!  I thought it might be older than the Bullnoses from what I could see of the cab roof and edge of the hood. Thanks for the info guys!

If you look at the relief along the rear wheel arch extended to the taillights, this places the truck in the first post as 64 to 66. The 1st generation Bronco also shared this body line.

On a completely unrelated topic, I learned to drive in a 56 Mercury M100. Wish I still had that truck.

I happened to come across this old Merc while perusing the local-ish online classifieds during lunch.

That's a cool old truck. I'd say this old girl was sitting in a rural community fire station for the last 60+ years. It seems to be in pretty good condition, and the price seems OK. I'd like to have it myself.

I didn't realize there were Mercury pickups around until Robert Redford drove one in An Unfinished Life.  A bit of research determined that they were Ford's but sold and/or built in Canada.
