Garbage tool of the day

This knock-off Dremel wannabe went into my trash can at a very high speed today.  I've had enough with trying to get attachments on & off AND the speed adjustment wheel long ago stopped working.
If I could kick myself you know where, I'd do it for buying this in the first place.

Judging by the rust and dust it's been kicking around awhile..
It's literally $20 with a bunch of bits. At least it is a step up from their Drill Master!

I'll replace it with the real McCoy most likely...a Dremel.  I didn't use it often, generally to open holes or de-burr things I've drilled.  Being small and able to get into sometimes tight places makes these kind of tools handy for me.  I suppose this one, yes from "Horrible Fate" lasted beyond what I paid for it.  On the other hand, I bought an engine hoist from them many years ago and it's saved my back a thousand times.

I have a Dremel kit and a couple of bit kits, and man I love that thing. I don't use it every day or anything, but it sure is nice when you do need it. Just last weekend I pulled it out to grind/clean out the internal snap ring grooves on a driveshaft, slip joke, and diff flange and it worked perfectly. I used a disk to clean the rust out of the grooves, then a wire wheel to finish cleaning, and then used a sanding drum to grind off a couple burrs inside the holes where the joints press into place.

By the way, the chuck has been sticking on the Dremel for years, I just loosen it, and give it a little tap with a screwdriver handle and it loosens right up.

I have one of each, got the Dremel way back when I was living in Vermont. And the HF right after getting the 84. I was working on replacing the rear axle, and needed to cut a nut off one of the U bolts. My son had the Dremel at his place in Chattanooga. Used it to cut the nut off put it back in the case, got my Dremel back . Have not used the HF again. Worked fine, just prefer the Dremel.
The Dremel is 30 years old, with one speed.

I have been using this exact one in my restore.  It has saved me a bunch of times, though, it is not all that powerful like the real dremel—mine burned up.  This one after 4 months is still going.
