Here is a puzzling issue. So my 85 F250 with 6.9 diesel needs a new tank selector valve which is part number E3TZ-9189-C. However, all of the one I can find have 4 ports down and 2 up. Mine has 2 ports up, 2 down and 2 horizontal to frame. 2 horizontal ones are front tank, 2 down are rear tank and 2 up are to motor. Anyone know where to find such a valve or am I looking for wrong number. Thank you

Lonni - I'm not sure what valve you have as I'm not sure I follow your description. But does yours have an ID # on it?
Our page (Documentation/Fuel Systems/Fuel Systems Part Numbers/Fuel Tank Selector Valves) says you are right that you should have E3TZ 9189-C and that it should be marked E3TB 9F271-AA. I have a new, in box, valve and it is marked that way and the box has that part number. Here are pics of it.

Mine has 2 ports that face the rear of truck that the front tank hooks into, then the ports that point down are rear tank and ports pointing up go to motor. The one you have and I am seeing every where have the 4 ports pointing down and 2 up. The picture on the site page shows what mine looks like but non on market are like that. Here is what mine looks like.

Well, E3TZ 9189-C is the wrong valve for your truck. Here's the illustration of the right valve. Correct?
A major change is the way the hoses connect. In the pic below you'll see a hose barb on the E3TZ 9189-C, meaning a rubber hose goes on it. And on the right you'll see the quick disconnect type fitting that I think your truck has. I say that because you can see them in the illustration above. And they don't interchange. So, I think the part number you need is E5TZ 9189-B.

Ok... anyone know where to find one? Talked to a ford dealer and they said it’s on a national back order. Lol. At least still getting fuel out of one tank. Thanks for all the help

I may have chased a rabbit, but here is what showed up for E5TZ-9189-B.

Thank you for looking. I found one in Houston TX by my daughter so she will pick up for me. It’s from a Ford Dealer so only $234. Those other guys are crazy the prices they are asking. Found one for less but they really don’t have it, that’s why it’s cheaper.. hahahahaha. Thank you again for the help.

I must be blind as I don’t see my 1986 F250, 460 on the data sheet. Same selector as being discussed?

Yes, I'm guessing that you should have the same selector being discussed: E5TZ 9189-B. I think the key is the type of connectors you have. Do you have rubber line to the valve with hose clamps, or nylon line with quick-disconnect fittings? The -C valve has rubber hoses and the -B valve has quick disconnect fittings.
The valve on the left has the fittings for rubber hoses, so is the -C, and the connection on the right is the type that a -B would have. (The quick-disconnect part is on the left end and the right end has barbs for the nylon line.)

My tank selector issue: the rear tank doesn't register anything, but I've hooked both pumps/sending units up to the front tank and they both register on the fuel gauge. The latest development is that when I flip the switch to the rear tank, the gauge still reads the front tank.
Should I just replace the selector valve, or troubleshoot further? Also, I'm new to parts hunting, but this is the exact part I need (as verified by yall above and by visual inspection) and it is out of stock/discontinued everywhere online. What's next, start calling all the ford dealers until I find one that has it?
