Not sure how long this has been around but thought the idea was pretty cool. Can't pull the filter on my truck without making a mess.

We used to make them out of scrap aluminum for aircraft. Not as flexible as these it looks like. On some aircraft you pull the drain plug and 12 quarts of hot oil would hit the nose wheel, and make a nice spray pattern, that took awhile to clean up!

That does look helpful.  I know that with a 460 it is a pain to pull that filter.

That's a neat idea! I wonder about sewing magnets to it to hold it it in place?

My Rangers have something similar from the factory, it's basically a little funnel that sits under the oil filter and whenever you remove the filter, the oil drains down the funnel and away from everything else. Definitely makes it a much cleaner job.

Same problem with he taurus sho engines, the filter is directly above the starter motor's electrical connections. Yamaha engineering, i guess

My cars have one of these, just put a hose on the nipple and drain the oil directly into a jug.

I have even bought a small shut off valve, and short NPT nipple for the snow blower.

Do you know what the thread pitch is on your 302?

Where the filter is located on my 460 there is no avoiding oil running from the adapter down over the power steering cooling loop set in the front crossmember.

I just stick a rag there before I loosen it up.

But I do recall there is some oil from the filter that drains onto the cross member too. The oil filter is behind the PS pump on a 302.

My truck isn't driven much so I do oil changes every 2 years. Even then its under 1000 miles.

I was just wondering because I've had to fit an oversized drain plug and it has a imperial pitch but a metric (17mm) head.

I'd think the trucks of this era would all have the same plugs?
