Sure is. Factory is integrated with the other HVAC controls under the radio. Haven't seen controls located there though...

The other giveaway is that the vents are added to the trim panels... not integrated. Rather than replace the panels, dealer air cut the old panels and snapped in vent inserts.

According to Mr. NumberDummy, back in 2007, there was a deluxe and economy version of dealer installed AC.

There are TWO different Ford dealer installed A/C units. One has a panel that runs across the dash and covers up the glove box. When this Deluxe unit was installed, it came with a hang on glove box.

The Economy dealer air uses a small rectangular control panel next to the radio. It has two A/C registers and two control knobs mounted horizontally.

If your A/C unit does not match either of these units, it's not Ford dealer installed A/C, but one sold by Sears, Climatic Air, Mark IV or ??

I wonder what he meant about "next to the radio"?  Replacing the HVAC controls?  Or in the little cubby like this one?

Good find David!

It may have been covered elsewhere in the thread where that post came from but just wanted to clarify on the last sentence -

I would say it instead like this: If the dealer didn't swap out the normal HVAC controls, these are the two other dealer install types.

I'd like to see a photo of the hang on glovebox he referenced. I knew earlier gens had an option for under the dash a/c units but didn't realize our trucks could as well.

That was a great thread Scott! There were at least four different styles of passenger side vents in the aftermarket AC systems? Some of those must be really rare. After many years and looking at thousands of pictures and threads on Bullnoses, I've still never seen some of those vents again, ever.

It is one of those neat topics, isn't it

Looks like I split them into 3 but it does appear there to be some variation in the short-n-wide photos.

Makes you wonder how many styles are out there and if they were regional, yearly, etc.

Also, perhaps it matters if the dealer installed them or if they farmed it out.
I know on my grandpa's 85 (with the all in one) the dealership sent the truck to a shop 2 hours away for the install.

I think there were a lot of regional differences, especially in things like that. A friend of mine was a mechanic at a Ford dealer in the late 70's, and he said he spent a lot of time installing radios in radio delete trucks. Things nobody even thinks of today;)
