I'm looking for a center dash trim for an '85-'86. I want a gray one, not wood grain - without holes for a clock, but with a radio opening. Must be in excellent condition.
I have a really nice set of wood grain trim panels that I'm willing to put up as trading stock if anyone wants or needs them. My set has no dash vents, and my center panel has a radio opening but no clock opening. Please contact me if anyone can help!

What would Mr. NumberDummy say?

Nice, but pretty pricey. But, I suppose my wood grain parts would probably sell to offset the cost...
Also, how about a horn pad with cruise switches but NO DANG WOOD GRAIN??

Regarding the horn pad, check with fellow member Ford F834 [his truck is the photo currently at the top of the forum]. He had 2 or 3 at the 2017 Garagemahal GTG. He can well be trusted!

Thanks! I'll PM him tonight.

Technically there is no PM function on this forum, but you can email him by clicking on his handle and hitting "Send email to..."
And, by the way, I think the price on that bezel is good. I should have said that on my previous post.

Hi, unfortunately I can't help with the radio bezel at the moment. I have found several in the junkyards but all my weave bezels have gone to other homes. I can continue to watch for one if you are not in a hurry, but you never know what the tides will bring in or when...
Regarding the horn pad with cruise, there never was a match for the weave bezels. All the trucks trimmed high enough to get cruise evidently also got woodgrain, or the extremely rare brushed silver XLS. Your best bet is going to be to paint one, apply vinyl wrap or similar tactic. If you have a 85/85 burl wood cruise pad in any kind of decent condition I would consider selling it. That will be your most valuable interior trim piece. I have quite a few of the much less desirable econoline van horn pads that would work just fine for painting or vinyl wrap. The econoline vans had horn pads in an oak wood grain, as well as a reddish leather pattern and a tan leather pattern, but still nothing that would go with silver weave. Anyway, as mentioned I have some horn pads and I would flip it to you at my junkyard price if you need one. Below is a picture of a horn pad that Kyle (a member here) painted to match his XLS bezels:
SHORT BED 4-DOOR DIESEL: 1986 F350 4x4 under construction-- 7.3 IDIT ZF5+GVOD
STRAIGHT SIX 4X4: 1981 F150 2wd to 4x4-- 300 I6 close ratio diesel T19, hydroboost brakes, Saginaw steering BIG F: 1995 F-Superduty under construction— converting to 6.9L IDI diesel ZF5+DNE2 |
That's the pad that I'm looking for. They're plain black, aren't they? At least that's the catalog description for E2TZ-13A805-B.
I'd consider mine to be in decent shape - just wear to the wood grain on the ends. Heck, I guess I could just paint it! (How do I rotate pictures??)

I don't think that E2TZ 13A805-B is a black horn pad. I have a note on that (Interior/Horn Pads) that says it is the cruise control version for the XLS.
And to rotate a pic you need to open it in a photo editing app and then save it. That usually does the trick for me w/o even rotating it. Forums, like this one and FTE, don't seem to look at the metadata that modern cameras or phones embed that includes the orientation. But the photo editing apps do and they fix it when you open and save.

There is not a plain black one. The XLS is a silver finish and extremely rare. I was lucky enough to win one on eBay thanks to David's tip, but other than that one I have only seen two or three others in photos.
If you want a black one you will have to custom paint it. Note the 85/86 horn pads had all black plastic frame and horn button plastic, while 80-84 had silver edging to the frame and the plastic parts of the horn button were silver/argent. Each would look different with the inserts painted. If you go to disassemble the unit for painting, be aware that the plastic is brittle and the speed nuts like to break the plastic posts off be very careful and expect that at least some will break. Also if you remove the center Ford emblem, the posts like to break or even break the emblem in half. Not trying to scare you off of taking it apart, just giving you a heads up on how fragile everything is.

Thanks for the find 1986F150Six. I pulled the trigger and have my center trim on the way.
Does anyone need my old center or cluster trim before they go up on eBay?? No A/C cluster trim, radio but no clock center trim. Both wood grain w/o the bright bead. They are as near perfect as you'll find for 32 year old parts!
