86 ford f350 460 dually

Hello I just picked up a 1986 F350 with a 460 crew cab dually. It's been sitting for a while needs some work. I noticed that I put new fuel in it and it will start and only run for about 5 minutes and die. I changed fuel filter and noticed the old owner put a inline fuel pump. I checked it and working fine. Noticed the the truck came with in tank fuel pumps and the old owner removed the tank selector valve so no power is going to tank pumps. My goal is to get the in tank pumps to work and remove the inline pump witch I think is pumping to high of fuel pressure. I have great plans for this truck to lots of hauling family and trailer.

When you say it will only run for a few minutes before dying, I wonder what the previous owner kept or removed of the Hot Fuel Handling system.

I would think to check if the carb is full of fuel when it dies.
Often people think they can bypass the safeties built into the system and end up only getting fuel when the starter is engaged.
