History: Truck has been sitting for around 10 yrs. I took on the project. The patient: 1986 F150 short bed, 302 EFI auto trans, base model. VIN 1FTCF15N4GKA06002 As you can see from the fuel tank pic, I have major clog problems. So far I replaced with new: fuel tank (mid-ship),roll over vent valve, sending unit with low pressure fuel pump, fuel filter on frame rail, high pressure fuel pump, injectors, and inj. connectors. Results so far: Fuel at schrader valve squirts fuel, engine turns over and fires, but will not catch and run. I really love this body style and power pkg. I am retired and just looking for a dependable drive. I am a novice never done anything more than change oil or tire. Hats off to YOUTUBE, but I am at a crossroads and don't know to try or do net. Any helpful suggestions???

Thanks for the advice, I replaced the rail located filter, but was unaware of a cannister filter after the high pressure pump. I will check and replace and ck fuel pressure. Sent from Mail for Windows 10 From: [hidden email] You say that there is fuel in the fuel rail on the top of the engine. How much pressure? The 5.0 EFI requires 45 to 65 psi to operate. There is a fuel pressure regulator on the left injector rail by the inside rear corner of the air filter
housing. Steve If you reply to this email, your message will be added to the discussion below: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/need-to-know-1986-F150-atart-and-run-problem-tp52062p52459.html

There is a cartridge (3268) between UP pump and mid-ship tank. That is all I have found. I will be taking pressure readings Friday morning. Still not found canister. I'll let you know what pressure is. And here is the other filter The high pressure pump should be about half way between them, the 3268. If you have only one then my bad. Did you get a fuel pressure reading? Does this pickup have more then one tank? Steve

That's about half what it should be. A new regulator is a good idea.

I am so frustrated with the fuel pressure gauge I borrowed from Auto Zone, I cannot get a consistent reading from it. Finger tight at the Schrader valve at the first test that resulted in a 20 psi. Now finger tight will
not read at all. I have to back off the tightening so much that leakage occurs, I get only 10 psi after new fuel pressure regulator install. I am going back to Auto Zone and see if they a different test kit. I’ll post again soon. Sent from Mail for Windows 10 From: [hidden email] That's about half what it should be.
