Yikes. Is that with taking them the vehicle and letting them take the trans out? Or with you pulling it and bringing it to them, then you putting it back in?
I discussed this with my mechanic recently and he said if I bring in the trans, then $1200 will buy a really quality rebuild on it.
So that leaves $800 for them to pull it out and put it back in. I'd say a competent mechanic could do that on a 2wd Bullnose in about 2 hours. So assuming the mechanic charged $100/hr, that's still only $1400.
I'd ask around for other prices. $2k does sound steep.
