Have you (or anyone here) actually seen them on a bullnose, or do you have pics of them?

I haven't seen them myself, but check out this Bronco: Picture Galleries/1984 Bronco XLT. There are several pics of the mirrors on that truck.

Nice! Thanks. Interesting that the underhood tool box isn't specifically listed on the options. I don't think that diamond-plate bumper is original, and I have my doubts about the dual tailpipe & tips, too. But it's certainly an interesting truck.

Yes, the underhood tool box is somewhat rare and should have been listed. As for the bumper, when I bought in '72 you could get lots of different bumpers from the dealership. So it may not have been sourced by Ford.
Anyway, it is a beautiful truck.

Trent tagged me in this on FB. Itâs the first time Iâve seen a photo of a red XLS Bronco. Iâve seen the brochure ads but not an actual example:

...or at least 93% of a red XLS Bronco. That's the first time I've seen a swing-out taillight. |

Yes, poor rusted away Bronco đ It would be interesting to know the stats on where the XLSâs were sold. Seems like quite a few ended up in the rust belt (maybe by virtue of being 4x4âs đ€·ââïž).

I think it was the '56 Chevy that had a swing-out taillight for access to the gas filler. Cool that someone added that to this Bronco.
Yes, that Bronco has problems. But at least we know there were red versions of the XLS.

Cool truck. Too bad it is so rusty. But, not as rusty as that Bronco.

Happened to come across this old XLS while looking for other stuff....looks to be ready for the crusher, but figured worth a mention since they so rarely ever pop up...
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1440483793&requestSource=b The grill has been changed obviously, but it still has black door handles and mirrors, and it looks like the bumpers were black before they rusted away. Windshield trip looks like it was black as well...

Wow. I sure wish he had posted a pic of the certification label đ. The two whites are the last ones that I canât figure out the paint codes for. The dealer facts books didnât turn out to be of any help either regarding what whites were available in each year. I assume that Whimbledon 9A was one of them, but even that is just a guess...

Hard to tell Jon, but it looks like it was originally kind of a cream color? I know it's faded badly. (My wife and I always argue jokingly over what is white and what isn't...lol. I'll say white and she'll say Ivory, etc). I was close by to this truck this past week while on a work trip (it is 3000 miles west of me) and I wanted to go see it in person to see if he wanted to sell any parts. He said that the interior is red and that the dash was silver and was all still intact. I would have grabbed the bezels if he would have sold them...but I didn't have time to go look really, and I need another set of bezels like a hole in the head...lol.

I never used to pay that close attention to white as frankly I found it to be pretty boring. Now after owning the â81 I have come to really like the creamy âantiqueâ white on it (9A/Wimbledon) and now I notice it if I see it on other Bullnose driving around. It has a classic/vintage look as newer cars tend to use the brighter whites. It is also perhaps the ideal color for someone living off of a dirt road in the Mohave desert. It is a near perfect match for hiding our shade of dust. Dark colored vehicles like my Jetta look perpetually awful. I have gone from having almost zero interest in white to it being the most likely choice for my crew cab project when I get back to it. That said, white is so very tricky in photographs. It is affected by reflected colors around it, and cameras under expose for it (trying to make it 18% grey-tone) and now days white balance tries to use it to adjust the whole picture tint. Out of all the white XLS pictures I have, none are conclusive as to which year got the 9A. If that was even used on either XLS. It is just the only white named in the MPC.

I found one! â82 w/302. Same place.
Running: 1982 F100 SWB, 300 I6, 3-on-tree, NO PB, PS, cigarette lighter or radio..... but has 9".
Running but needs motor: 1982 F150 XL SWB, 300 I6, 4 spd OD MT. Rusted in half: 1983 F100 SWB, 302ci, 4 spd / OD, 8.8". Nothing left behind cab. Seriously short! Looking for another truck to rebuild as tribute. |

Cool! Yes, my 302 has the partial VIN stamped in the same place as well. It seems to be completely random, but they do show up like this every now and then. I've done some reading on it, and according to some folks, these random engine VIN stamps were showing up in the 70's too. I have two really nice books on small block Fords, and there is no mention of these stamped VINs in either book. Still, they did pop up once in a while, so somebody was doing it on an assembly line somewhere. Any idea where this truck was built?
