VCL (Vehicle Certification Label) aka Door jamb sticker or Door Tag

BigBrother-84
This post was updated on .
Some of the Forum members already read elsewhere that I ordered a VCL replica at Marti Report.
I thought that, using the VIN, Marti would find every original specs to create a faithful copy of my lost door jamb sticker.

I am still continuously learning (a major reason why life is so interesting).  Some info cannot be extracted from the VIN.
Our friend Dane warned me that Marti asked him for complementary infos, for a similar replica request (https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/4x4-Front-Axle-identifying-tp122501p122524.html).
Without these specs, the sticker will look like that:

Here is their detailed demand:

My door label is lost, so option #1 is a no go.  And I'll go #3 if I have no other choice.
So, I am trying hard to find all specs required for option#2.

With the help from Jonathan, I am on the right track to confirm my front axle as a D50 4.10, and Marti indicates that the rear axle is a Conventional Dana 4.10:

I examined my front and rear leaf spring suspension and found absolutely any stamps, no identification possible.

SO...   Will I be able to determine the missing specs as Marti requested?

• GVWR (seems to me that 9300lbs is the right weight for Big Bro, accordingly to Marti W361 code
and 1984 sales brochure
)
• GAWR Front
• GAWR Rear
• Reserve weights (F0000/R0000)
• Spring codes (maybe measuring them?)
• Tire, wheel and tire pressure information as they appear on original tag (Big Bro has its original wheels, so I suppose I can find the codes... but for tires and pressure, not sure)

In another thread, Gary pointed to this 1985 document https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/1985-body-builders.html, from which I extracted these tables:

There is also some documentation about springs, not sure how to use it...  Do we measure a spring unloaded, flat on a bench?  Can it be measured directly under the truck?

Any suggestions how to go about it?  Can I use 1985 data for my 1984 Crew Cab?

I think the best bet is to find others with similar setups and get their data.  I say that because while I know the springs, axles, and original tires on Big Blue I can't use that data to come up the the front or rear GAWR's.

Last month I did a bit of checking to see what Big Blue's front GAWR actually is since I'm not running the factory axle, and the results are explained here.  But it is interesting that I found the springs to be capable of 4800 lbs, the axle capable of something like that, and the tires capable of far more - and yet the GAWR is 4600.  And that scenario is true of the rear axle as well.

So I would go looking for 1984 F350 certification labels.  And this search turned up several.  (Note what the first true search result is.  )  You should be able to find some that match your truck and use that data.

Thanks Gary,
Probably crossing some web finds with this document https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/1984-light-truck-data-book.html could help confirm if they are correct for a basic 1984 4x4 Crew Cab.  Seems that there were not a lot of options these years, for that kind of monster.

In my case, probably like Jeff's, my driver's door (left front) was replaced with one from a standard cab or super cab. Those trucks have the sticker on the door post, crew cabs have it on the back face of the left front door as the B post does not have a large enough flat surface for the sticker.

I wisely took a picture of my original sticker as has been seen on here. We made a close match as far as information with our high tech label makers at work. I thought I had a picture of the one we made, I will get one later today. Here is my original one:

And here is the one we made in the lab at work:

Finally, received today the "report" and the door VCL sticker!

What a surprise!  I was waiting for a «report», a paper document, kind of.

Well, when Marti say Deluxe, they mean Deluxe.
I received a very professional certificate... in a frame.  Wow!

And my VCL is complete, no missing data, as a genuine new one!
Was costly, took a lot of time, had to be very patient, but it was worth the wait, really.

Ok, so what was the cost? I will probably want to get proper one for Darth at some point.

For the VCL itself, their site indicates 40$.  But you need to already have your truck information.

If like me you lost everything, you'll have to climb in their report type (and cost), in order to pay them to make all the required research.

certainly, worth it to me. I can give all the info, even photos of the original in most cases. to be able to replace the door tag after a total strip and repaint will just be cool. and i can order all this before stripping so it will be here before I need them, I'm sure. they look as original so well done I say.

I have all the information and a photo of the original. I have owned Darth since April 1994. Ordered a VCL for Darth and one of the cert sheets.

Gentlemen, I plan to stick the new Big Brother's VCL to his door, nice and hot weather finally arrived.

Is there a specific measurement  to precisely place the decal on the door side?

Thanks Gary, but I am wondering if Bill isn't right in his post, where he suggests that Crew Cabs have their VCL on the door itself, and others on the cab jamb.

Ok, here is Darth's original label on the back of the driver's door. You can see the opening for the lock cylinder and its retaining clip and two of the latch attaching screws. This should help in locating where it should go.

Late reply but that looks good, I was going to get the deluxe report as well as a copy of my original sticker to replace mine.  Mine is perfectly fine but when it comes time for paint and bodywork I want the door jamb painted and I plan on trying to carefully remove the original sticker to put it up and replace it with the marti-report replica.
