Tailgate letters for Flareside [not stepside, as in ad] - NOS

These are 1980 only.  I don't know what the difference is, but there were different letters for gold in '81 and following.  (Besides, these are for a Stepside, and couldn't possibly fit our trucks.  )

I've had the ad below saved in My Ebay for about a year. They have a few color options, but I have no idea on the fitment or quality...

This morning I realized I could look at the tailgates, which I did: Exterior/Bed, Tailgates, & Components.  Turns out there is only one part number for the 1980-87 Flareside trucks.

So, I wonder why the letters were different between 1980 and 1981-86?

I’m guessing the difference is color... kind of like the XLS stripe kits but that’s just a guess 🤷‍♂️

Has to be if the 'gates are the same.  Both were "gold", but apparently different.  Looking at Specifications/Exterior Paint Codes, 1980 was Desert Gold Metallic.  But I don't see what the 1981 on gold was.
