Yes, it is the same.
I purchased one of those about 5 years ago, but I didn't pay that much. I suppose they are getting harder to find. (I certainly paid dearly for other discontinued parts, so I guess every dog has it's day.) It's a very nice piece and is much heavier than the stock aluminum lid. In fact, I would say it is better than the OEM Ford one. The only problem is the potential for rust. My intention was to use it for car shows, but the aluminum one looked so nice after I painted it I didn't need to.

Ok, cool. Good to know, thanks. I had been lusting after a chrome lid, but had kinda given up on them until coming across this one. I have one of the old chrome SVO lids that I paid way too much money for and can't really use, so I'm sorta interested in this one. We'll see I guess.

With my truck out of commission I'm digging back into some old projects that I've been neglecting. I painted my best 5.0 air cleaner lid a while back and installed one of the correct sized decals. Today I was playing around with making the hot air intake functional. I was curious...are any of the parts of this system available anymore? The Bimetal valve inside the air cleaner, the green CWM on the outside edge, or the flapper valves/vacuum motors? I'm sure they're all long obsolete, but is anybody selling them aftermarket? I did Google around a bit and didn't find anything useful...
I tested everything with a Mitivac, and the flapper valves open and close nicely. I hit the bimetal valve with the heat gun for a few seconds and it went into full bleed mode (I wasn't able to pull a vacuum on the system while it was warm). I guess the last thing I need to do is to stick the whole thing outside for a while and let it cool down and test it again.

Actually, I've been able to find the parts when I was looking. The part numbers are here: Documentation/Fuel Systems/Air Cleaners. Sometimes the Motorcraft part number is the one to look for. Other times the Ford service #.

Gary, I was looking at that page. How do I identify the ACTS? Mine have some blue on the top...one has a red dot, and another one I have has a red circle on it.

I don't know the answer to that question, although it is a good question.
My thinking has been that what you'd like is to get a constant temp to the carb. And with the outside air temp exceeding 100 degrees frequently you aren't going to be able to get anything any cooler than 105 degrees to the carb. So I'd go with the 105 degree ACTS.

National Parts Depot? Mustang Air Cleaner Parts I was able to scavenge some parts from a couple spare air cleaner assemblies I had kickin' around. I still had the original for my truck, plus another 1983-1984 Mustang 5.0 GT air cleaner that I was going to scrap. I tested the flapper air motor in my original truck intake, and it was no good, but the two in the old Mustang air cleaner worked fine. The part I was most concerned about was the ACTS. The one that was in my truck originally is relatively clean. I'm going to test it and see if it works any better than the one I have in my current dual snorkel intake. That's really the key part to making the intake work properly. I'll keep my eye open for a new one though, just in case.

Those of you running the factory style air cleaner assemblies...with single or dual snorkels, what are you running for air filters? Stock paper style, or K&N reusable style?

I have been running the stock paper style, but Big Blue came with the reusable one so that's what I ran. Not sure what I'll run with EFI though. Some say the K&N flows much better, but others say the oil gets on the MAF sensor. Dunno.

Oil (and dust) will definitely get onto your MAF sensor.
Gauze is not as fine as paper, regardless of sticky oil, and about the time that the cake builds up to where it is as good as paper, you need to clean it. Just my opinion after having used them for years. I have gone back to paper

I agree, the MAP Sensor on our Burb got oily and dirty, put paper in ever since on all my vehicles.

I agree with these guys for the same reasons. I use the stock paper air filters.

Ok, fair enough. Thanks for all the responses. The reason I was asking was, ever since I installed the Mustang 5.0 dual snorkel intake, the truck stinks bad when I bring it home and pull into the garage. Like gas/fumes smell. I've pulled the air cleaner cover off, and it is the air filter that smells...or it is the air filter that is holding the smell. Any idea what would cause this? It was never an issue with the open element air cleaner, for 2 seasons. Maybe it has something to do with the other issues I'm currently working on, like replacing my leaky intake gasket, and getting the carb set-up properly, but I wanted to look into it while I'm in the process of getting this thing all dialed back in properly.

Make the corrections to your carburetor, or replace it as previously discussed, and see if the objectionable smell goes away? That way you will know if the carburetor and vacuum leak was the issue. Then, change the filter element, if desired.

Granted it’s air-cleaner specific, but which ones do you guys use?

I have a Carquest (Wix) filter right now.
NAPA, Mann, Motorcraft,... Depends on where I am. I DID notice a distinct lack of any kind of orange in the filter aisle at Advance when I picked up filters and plugs a week or so ago. Seems a good move to me.
