Those are the ones that I think look like they belong in a bathroom holding towels. There was one mounted haphazardly on Dad's truck's dash when I got it. Yuk!

But you had mentioned getting a pair of something for Big Blue.
I looked for some other NOS Ford ones, and the ones that turned up belonging to F-600 & above were just a tube smashed flat on the ends. Definitely need to be white or chrome otherwise they'll burn your hand. How's Janey going to get along with BB's new (increased) stance?

I do think Janey is going to need a handle, but this is the one I like. Jonathan said here that he finds them on F600 & F700 trucks. So if you find them please let me know.

Oh, that's the 19" stainless handle?
I've seen those and was hoping to surprise you. But didn't know which one's

I don't know if it is 19" or not. I've never seen one in person. Are there different sizes?
As for surprising me, please go ahead. I won't remember this conversation in a day or so.

There are really long ones that go all the way to the lower cab corners on the bigger L-series trucks.

The F600/700 handles are not hollow. They are aluminum and feel very nice in the hand. Gary, I may end up with an extra set. Trent has a pair he promised to send me, and I think I have enough for my crew cab and ‘81. It’s been on my radar to count what I have and send you a set if I have enough. Good point about the color... they may be unusable if I do all black trim on the crew cab. David did share a link of F600 handles that came black from the factory. Our temps are climbing into triple digits, and black grab handles might leave you needing a skin graft 😬

Buyers Products makes a forged aluminum grab handle (#B239914AL)
1/2" diameter x13" long. But now I'm back to looking for the OEM Ford ones. 🙄

Jonathan - I'd really be interested in a pair of those handles. But there's no rush. And I want to pay for them.
Jim - Thanks. I've looked the Buyers Products handle up, and it is an option. But they aren't as nice looking as the F600 or 700 ones. Jonathan - Do the ones in the LKQ advert look like the ones you have? They say they are chrome, but might they really be aluminum?

Gary, those do look like what I have... but I wonder if they have the mounting hardware? Stainless fasteners are not too bad to source, but the little plastic wedges that go between the handle and the body are nice to have...

Very hard to tell from the pic. I'm in no hurry, so am happy to wait to see what you get.

YUK!!!
The price is awful, but it provides an engineering number. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-1996-Up-Ford-Medium-Heavy-Truck-O-S-Assist-BD-Handle-Freightliner/192075282385?epid=2131682054&hash=item2cb89437d1:g:PpgAAOSwnHZYdUWQ Hmmm? Yipes! Thanks, but some of those are $125/ea. Or ugly! Or both!
I'll be thrilled to get a pair from Jonathan if he discovers he has too many. Or, we have a large truck salvage not far away and I might be able to find a pair there.

There's always surplus MRAP grab handles.
They're cheap, come with all the hardware. You know they're tough. ~$35 a pair, delivered. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143432051684

Isla has just joined me and says she can barely get into Big Blue, so she'd like a grab handle.
And that MRAP handle sure is cheap. But the color doesn't work so I'd have to powder coat them. And, they'll look like jug ears. So, I think I'll hide and watch for the F600/700 handles. But thanks!

They have another longer cab handle (also w/ all the hardware)
But I have my eyes open to the flat Ford ones. I had intended to go to the truck yard down the road from my brothers Carolina house, but all those plans changed with the Covid and the riots.
