Same as CJett.  Clapped 300 puked oil, burned oil - the works.  T170 trans, 3.08 gears.  With the 31" tires, the half-dead mill would pull 12-13mpg (with very little use of the OD gear).  Rebuilt the 6, swapped tannies for a T-18, and it can sometimes make it back to 10mpg or so, with 9 being pretty common.  Is going to get a 3.50 rear soon enough, and I intend to snag Gary's T19 for the future.  We'll see how the gear change affects it.

I do have a couple of roller 351W blocks in the shop, and I DO love to put engines together.  The 300 is on probation, but man is it ever reliable.

I was thinking 2 or 3 large rocks but that is beyond awesome placing them on a slope by hand. Looks good. By the way, I was referring to the holes at the knees of your pants. Bad joke? CJ

When my 300 6 cyl wasn't so worn out like it is now I was getting 24 mpg. This required keeping the speed no faster than 80km/h (50m/h), truck had the 4 speed overdrive manual tranmission 3.55 rear diff engine had a Carter YF carb. If I drove faster than the 80km/h (50m/h) then my fuel economy dropped quickly as the speed increased.

Engine now has over 600,000 km (400,000 m) on it so getting pretty tired and know my mpg is much lower than before.
