New to the Forum and have a Question

Aerocoupe
I was directed to this site by one of your members (FuzzFace2) that is also over on www.ford-trucks.com.  I have a short wheel base '70 F100 that I bought as a Flareside but have since converted it to a Styleside.  This is only applicable here being that unbeknown to me was the flareside bed on my truck is off an 80-86 F100/150.  I could not bring myself to scrape the bed a couple of years ago and it has since been in a connex high and dry.  I only realized the bed was for an 80-86 last week when my dad and I were taking inventory of the connex as we are going to clean it out, cut it up and scrap it.  This means what ever we have room for in the shop will go in there and the rest will get scrapped with the connex. I have room for this bed under the car port attached to the shop but it really needs to find a home.

I would have just scrapped it but found out that the fenders on this bed are no longer made and are not just readily available in good shape.  I would like to find out what a reasonable price for this bed would be as I do not want to just give it away nor do I want to rip anyone off.  Here are some pictures of the bed:

On the truck when I bought it and was hauling it back to the shop:

We moved it around back of the shop for temporary storage until we could make room inside the shop. So all of these pictures are with the bed leaned up against the back wall of the shop with the tailgate down and on 2x4's.

Bottom of the Bed:

Bottom of the Bed Looking at the Front Panel:

Bottom of the Bed Looking at the Tailgate:

Passenger Side:

Driver Side:

So again, I am just looking for an honest price to post it for sale in the Marketplace as I know trying to sell it in this sub-forum is not polite.  If it takes a minimum number of posts to place an add then I doubt I can do that as I really have nothing to contribute to this forum or its members other than the bed.  Just trying to be honest here as I know how hard parts for our beloved blue ovals are getting to be.

Hi Aerocoupe, where are you located?

I have no real idea what it is worth, but at a glance, the only parts that are specifically from the 1980-1986 trucks are the fenders and the steps. All of the steel parts of the box itself are not from the 1980-1986 trucks. The tailgate is from an older f-series truck, and the sides and headboard are either from a different truck, or they were aftermarket/homemade replacements for a different truck.

I've seen some original 80-86 Flareside beds for sale recently. One in California (I think) for $900, and another in Michigan that was rusty and missing the tailgate for $300. I have heard that the fenders and steps go for pretty decent money if you find a buyer. Good condition steel parts are either impossible to find or are very expensive aftermarket.
1994 F150 4x2 Flareside. 5.0 w/MAF, 4R70W, stock.
1984 F150 4X2 Flareside. Mild 302 w/ 5spd. Sold.
1980 F150 4X4 Flareside. 300i6 w/ 5spd. Sold in 2021.
1980 F100 4X2 Flareside. 351w/2bbl w/NP435. Sold in 1995

Welcome to the forum!  Glad you joined and hope this won't be your last thread here.

Where's home?  I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu), and I'd be happy to add you if I just had a town/city.

Also, you'll get more attention if you post this in both the main section as well as in the Marketplace/ For Sale, Trade, or Free To A Good Home.  We don't want those fenders to be missed.

Re: New to the Forum and have a Question

I just found out about the box and tailgate from members over on www.ford-trucks.com and with you guys saying it as well that has been confirmed.  Box and tail gate are the original to the truck so '70 and evidently the fiberglass fenders were used due to the factory metal fenders being beat up, rotted out, or who knows what.  The things people do to these trucks is just mind numbing.

I will post the fenders up for sale in the market place here and the tailgate over on a couple other sites that cater to the '79 and down trucks which this tailgate will work on.
