Interesting. He's right, there is one bedside for 80 - 82, and another 83 - 86. And I don't know what the difference is. Something in the way the fuel filler or door mounts?

Maybe the bedside has tooling specific to the strap vs cable tailgates? 🤷‍♂️

YES!!! That's the difference! And it is fairly easy to adapt cables to an earlier bed, but not straps to a later bed. So you need to know which one that is.
