My 5.0 Ford reman block was 0.10 over sized and the crank bearings were line bored also. I had no problem building it and it still runs great. Just a note, I got it in 02.

ford is still offering reman engine blocks for old engines?  might need to see if they got any short blocks for a 306 roller.  might be a better option for me than hunting around for a independent builder.

Ah ok, cause I know ford still offers 7.3 long blocks we got one about 4 years ago for a customer figured for gas motors they wouldn't.  I know you can get the 302/351w boss blocks but not going to spend $1,500+ for a bare block.

I think for the time to go through all of the rebuilding process, unless your looking to keep a proper date coded truck, the roller 5.8 is the way to go. I am in the process of starting such a project. It'll be a 5.8 roller block from a 94.5 and up. i chose to go with the GT-40 3-bar heads from 96- early 97 Explorer/Mountaineer. This combination seems to be the smoothest rolling and flowing set up. The parts are still reasonable to find in the JY's too. Good luck.

Ford Performance offers long blocks and turn key crate motors. There are no more stock remanufactured engines that carry a warranty unless you opt for a turn key crate engine.

yep I looked at their long blocks, they are more suited for hotrods and cars than they are suited for trucks.  They are built more for mid to top end power range.  Why I am building my own I am piecing it together to build all its power from idle to 5,500 rpm.
