I'll try to get to this tonight, when at least I have a tablet.

Ok, I added Bronson and the rim shot. And they are BIG, so you can see what happens to the drop-down.
What do you think? I can make them smaller and still be able to recognize them, but they don't work down at the size of the others.

Personally, as much as I like the Bronson one, I would vote to leaving the flyout with just containing the basic 'head' style options

There is another way to go about this. I have a temporary page set up on the forum for Smileys. Right now it is just my holding area for smileys, and I have some in there which we are not using, as you'll see. And, there is no real organization. Plus, it is hidden in the menu.
I could organize it and un-hide it. Then we could put whatever smileys in there we wanted. So, instead of clicking the Smiley button and choosing one you could open that page, right click the smiley you want, click "Copy image address", click Insert Image and then paste the URL for the smiley into the "Or copy an image from the Internet" line. And, having just added Ford's proposed emoticon, here's what happens when you do that (w/o resizing it):

It's weird how the smilies above the gifs expand and the rest shrink to fit on my phone in portrait.

By the way, have you noted how Ford has distinctively Ford styling cues in that pickup? The dropdown in the door by the window and the taillight would be two of them.

Or my phone screen (at 3" wide) is too narrow.
My hands are pretty calloused, so there's not really pinpoint accuracy.

I took Charles and Ta Da out. Not that doing so will make it easier, but it does clean it up.

I'm usually pretty comfortable pecking away at the keyboard but those reduced smilies were just too much.
As they are now -all equal, except rotfl- I don't have any problem.

So you want me to reduce the size of ROTFL?

No, no that's fine (however many pixels wide that is)
Just saying, like you did above, it leaves more whitespace..... horizontally.

Okay.
If this thread is going away, I'm going to leave some of the unicode emoji I put up for consideration. With MY interpretation of their use. Jim - There are two threads with very similar titles:
More Emoticons? Less Emoticons? Which Ones? This is the original thread.Re: More Emoticons? Less Emoticons? Which Ones? This is the thread that was created when I replied via email to Matthew's post.I don't know why I couldn't respond to Matthew's post in the first thread, nor why when I did respond via email another thread was created. But it is confusing and I'd prefer to move the salient bits to the first thread and kill this one. However, you shared a lot of unicode smileys that may be very useful - but would be more useful if we could actually see them in this post. So, I'll attempt to do so. But, you say they are universal. But since this forum (Nabble) doesn't use unicode and generates pictures, don't the smileys show the same on all devices? Explosion U+1F 4A5 128165 💥 Fire " 525 128293 🔥 Zany.
