Well I got a Marti report on my truck to see what's up and I was surprised to find that my truck and I are both naturalized US citizens.
I noticed it was equipped with a metric speedometer, but tracks in miles.. I took a test lap this morning to be sure :) Anyone deal with a metric speedometer before ?

Cory (NS)and Jeff (QB) are both in CA.
You can tag them to this thread. We also have a few north and west.

The speedometer shown in your photo is the "normal" one for trucks sold in the USA. The following is an example of the one sold for locations which favor the metric system.

Jim & David - Thanks! I was struggling to find pictures and know what to tell Vivek about the speedo. But let's put the picture here 'cause at some point that advert will be taken down and no one will know what the metric speedo looks like.
Vivek - See why I suggested posting on here. These guys know far more than I do, and collectively we know a LOT.

Thanks a lot everyone!! Looks like the cluster I have has been swapped at somepoint.
On the other hand, I am jealous that the metric odometer can go to 621370 miles !!

I do. This is the one we need here in Canada, at least to drive comfortably having the big numbers corresponding to the speed limits. When trying to replace, much more difficult to find then US mph ones. What’s the question?

EDIT:
Not always… I found this metric with tripometer on eBay, but like the US ones, one number is missing. Can’t reach 100,000 km. A trick to stay young?

One of the changes I added to Darth was a later dash and steering column.
The later dash has an 85 mph speedometer, but the odometers (main and trip) can be switched between Miles and Kilometers. Here is Darth's about 15,000 miles ago:
Bill AKA "LOBO" Profile
"Getting old is inevitable, growing up is optional" Darth Vader 1986 F350 460 converted to MAF/SEFI, E4OD 12X3 1/2 rear brakes, traction loc 3:55 gear, 160 amp 3G alternator Wife's 2011 Flex Limited Daily Driver 2009 Flex Limited with factory tow package Project car 1986 Chrysler LeBaron convertible 2.2L Turbo II, modified A413 |
And if Darth's is a similar vintage to my '97, while it has that 6th digit before the decimal point, it only goes up to 399999.9 miles. Instead of rolling to 400000.0 it will then go to (I think) 100000.0. I guess Ford could save a penny or two on each odometer and figured their trucks weren't good for over 400000 miles anyway???

In the same way. there was a well known company which also thought that any of the computers running their OS were supposed to work beneath December 31 1999. So why to allow it?

And then there is this one for F600/800 intermediate trucks which if an earlier one [before 1988?], is cable driven and is a drop in replacement in the Bullnose trucks.

David - I first click the + button to zoom in on it, and then right-click and copy image address.
Jim - Thanks. Just wanted David to know how I do it.

I tried opening the image in another tab, then copying the address, then pasting the address into the look up the URL bar on the insert image tab.
It doesn't work, for me....

I don't have an Android device to check, but on my Windows computers the only way it works for me is to:

Pop it up
Open image in new tab Collect a copy URL Paste into the drop-down window of the insert image button. Click large size This works with a LOT of things but it does not work with that eBay image. 🤷♂️

I don't know exactly what they are protecting from. It is really futile as it is so easy to take a screenshot, so I don't understand why they are doing it. But apparently the ways around it vary by the OS of the device you are using.

Because, when you hot link, even if it's just for another piece of forum software to make a screen grab, you are trying up resources on their server.
Pings and more pings.... That's how DDOS attacks happen. Am I not being clear? 🤷♂️
