Is there anyway to know what these insulate? They seem too thin for cab. I recently tried getting transmission mounts and no one seems to sell the type I need....which look like several-inch diameter rubber disks, kinda like these (in profile).

I believe these are for the front radiator support due to the hex shape.

Some time ago, Gary did a microanalysis on the 80-84 transmission mounts, and if I remember correctly, he was able to find something that worked. It was either on his dad's truck, or the truck he called "Rusty". I asked him about it he recently, but he doesn't recall, and I barely remember it as well, but I do know it would have been on FTE. I need to dig for it one of these days because this question comes up alot.

*EDIT* I found a post where Gary briefly played around with bushings for the transmission crossmember. I'll put it below. Not sure if this is what I'm thinking of, but it does touch on the subject.

Shaun - I didn't find an exact match in what extra body bushings I have, but I got pretty close. First, here are the stock bushings under that top piece in your pic. And in the middle is an LMC #40-2012 front cab mount upper.

But, as you can see in this pic, the LMC mount is not quite 1/2" shorter than the factory mount.

Here's a shot from the top showing that the bushings are about the same diameter.

And the piece below looks just like the LMC bottom piece, which is 40-2032. I have 4 of those and would confirm they are the same - but mine are in the PC oven at the moment so I'll do that tomorrow. However, either the lower piece screws into the upper piece or they are rusted together, which is quite probable.

So, we might be able to get there but will just have to shim the mount by about 1/2". However, we have no way of knowing how the rubber compares between the stock and those from LMC. Thoughts?

Shaun - There's this thread on FTE.  But it points back to this website here.

NPD says «ABSORBER, CAB MOUNT, #1, UPPER».

This diagram seems to confirm...

Gary, that looks like it's for the body mounts.

The snippet I posted was from a similar thread from 2014. Here was what Bill posted when I mentioned the 1980-1984 transmission crossmember bushings.

What's to figure out? All you need is the parts catalog...

These are engine rear support rubber insulators, not body rubber absorbers (bushings), and were used on ALL (depending on the applications/years):

1980/89 F150/350 & Bronco 300/302/351M/351W/400/460 & 6.9L/7.3L 4WD's.

Christopher, are you looking for the crossmember/transmission insulators I discussed in this thread?
