I need help with a 1987 ford e350 7.5l

Earnhardtt3
I am working on my father's 1987 ford e350 7.5l. When he bought this thing it needed some work, it only has 18k on it. So when I was starting this project I noticed that at some point it looked like a nest caught fire and burned some vaccum lines. I got it mostly together but I'm stuck on this part, I have a picture of the part but I'm not sure where to get help from. I really don't do forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the Bullnose Forum!  Glad you joined.

I'll post the pic, below, but you need to go to Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's and learn how to post pics.  It isn't that hard.

But I don't know what that part is.  Perhaps others do.  But you'll get a whole lot more lookers if you post the question in the main forum rather than here in New Members Start Here.

Welcome!

I have an '87 7.5l but can't say the engine bay is the same as a van.

That looks like a vacuum delay valve.
Is your problem that you can't find a new one, or that you need a vacuum hose routing diagram?

I see a bit of a number on the unburnt side.
What colour was the plastic housing?

It's not hard to insert an image.
We have instructions in the FAQ.

Brown & black is a 20 second forward biased delay valve.
I know it works with/for the EGR that used to be on my truck. (no matter what the application chart said)

But you don't need an exact match, just one that fits the same parameters.
And in that regard, it wouldn't matter if you were using a brown/black valve from a Chevy or Dodge, it would function the same as stock even if it looks different.

Exact physical match for yours, and half the price of the other.
As I said, application charts are not gospel.

They are not even close sometimes, either.....

Here is probably what everything looked like:

In the middle you can see where two of the lines have pieces repaired. This is where the lines passed over the heat riser passage and were burned by the heat. I lifted them up into a clip on the center inboard valve cover bolt. You should have a label like this:

It is on the radiator panel on pickups and probably the underside of the hood on E-series.

Check the "incomplete vehicle" label on the door post for the exact year of the chassis as it can be 1 - 2 years older than a motorhome.
