Seems like a perfect application for one of those really nice U-techcenter heavy duty relay kits.

I've got two of them in my truck now...

Lil'Red is a '87 F250 HD, 4.10's, 1356 4x4, Zf-5, 3G, PMGR, Saginaw PS, desmogged with a Holley 80508 and Performer intake.
Too much other stuff to mention.

Thanks to all of you we have ignition! I wired the relay today and much to my surprise she started right up.

I still have to find a vacuum hose for the carb to dizzy advance. I found a vacuum port on the carb which will work.

The engine sounds good even though I have not set the timing yet. I did flash the timing light on the timing gauge but I could not see any marks on the pulley. The gauge is pretty rusted and I could not see any numbers on it so I will have to clean that up. It's idling around 750 rpm.

I have not set the timing on a water cooled engine before only air cooled VW engines.

These engines are very simple. (Maybe not as simple as an air cooled engine with a generator, but still simple)

There's no need to feel intimidated.
