OK so been away for a bit, just got back into town from NY for the holidays and contracted Flu B... Yay... And I had the shot back in October.
But on topic. After my fever dream hibernation today I realized I had ordered 16" visor brackets from LMC truck for the 1987+ model years. I knew these were longer than mine but hoped they were the same diameter etc. The good news is they fit. They are longer by a bit but it's ok the replacement visors are more than long enough to accommodate them. There are a few differences there are some cut outs on the bar and the drop is a bit lower. The spring is held in with a screw instead of being pressed in. All in all for $8.95ea I am a happy camper.

Sorry about the flu! But glad the visor bars work. Looks like that is a good solution.

Don't miss that the later visors with the inboard clips will work.

Inside clips offer a lot of support (obviously) yet you can still swing the visors over to the side if needed.
Though I can't ever remember actually using them that way. Soon enough the rising and setting sun will be in my eyes when driving. Not sure how I feel about that but longer days are always better.... to a point.

Yes but the ones with inside clips only come in cloth as far as I can tell. My next experiment is to either try a clip with the old style bracket or make a "clip" using neodymium magnets.
If they loosen up these new ones have a screw so in theory you should be able to replace the spring or tighten it down as well.

Yep - the ones I have for Big Blue are vinyl. Don't remember what they came off of, but I do know that only the high-end trucks, like Lariats, got the cloth.

Yep!
I'm a simple 'Custom' with crank windows and a vinyl mat.

Funny that upgraded interiors back then had carpet added to the doors and cloth visors. Now a days leather and vinyl are considered premium interior trim.

I have a door pocket that I put on my truck.
They only came in XL & XLT trucks and it's therefore carpeted. I have too much other stuff to address, so I'm not concerned about it. I imagine vinyl seats get hot, slippery or sticky, and crack in freezing temperatures. While the plaid fabric ones don't do any of that

Its the same with houses.. wood floors to carpets to wood floors again.

Theres always a "new" trend to spend money on isnt there? The wood floors and carpets really get me. Doing years of residential remodels and tearing up something that someone once paid a lot of money for makes you think...what the conclusions are i dont know.
Sorry to hear about the flu, I had it for Christmas and missed a week of work. Im starting to drive into the sun on my commute so this is a project I need to tackle. My visor problem is the screws where the rods mount to the body are loose.

fortunately I'm pretty much over it. After about 24-30 hours I was feeling better. I am attributing this to having gotten the flu shot so my body was somewhat prepared.
