Some of you know that Bill (aka Numberdummy in another life) and Chris/ctubutis were here over the weekend. They'd shipped a box of documentation to me as they left CA, and then picked up a couple of microfiche viewers along the way.
So, with that documentation as well as what I had I thought it might be interesting to tell you what I have of Ford documentation in paper format: 1979/1980 Carburetor Adjustments training guide1980 Master Cross Reference List - converts part number to engineering number1981/1982 Carburetor Adjustments training guide1981 Factory Shop Manual1981 EVTM1981 Wiring Diagrams1981 Light Truck Facts Organizer1981 Special Specifications Issue of TSB's dated May 11, 19811983/1984 Carburetor Adjustments training guide1984 EVTM1985 Factory Shop Manual1985 Do-It-Yourself Service Guide1985 F-Series 4x4 information from that year's Light Truck Facts organizer1985 Car & Truck Engine/Emission Facts Book Summary1985 Wiring Diagrams1985 EVTM1985/1986 Carburetor Adjustments training guide1985 Master Cross Reference List1987 EVTM1991 Master Cross Reference ListObsolete, Supersede, Interchange books for Jan '96, Jan '99, Jan '00, and a tabbed version for June of '99 - and I am not sure how to use them. And here's what the documentation looks like: In addition, Bill loaned me the microfiche versions of the master parts catalog for: 1980 - 89 Heavy Trucks as of Feb 921980 - 89 Light Trucks as of May 891980 Light Trucks as of Oct 911980 - 89 Light Trucks as of March 94 - Final IssueAnd here's what a viewer looks like. You can see in front of it on its "table" one page of microfiche, and that can hold 1960 individual pages.

Hmmm, that looks rather complex, so let's see if I can simplify it a bit with some re-organization:

Yes, Ken, it is. But, while I have you, I had a PM from you on FTE but my inbox is full. What's up? You can post it here or, if it isn't public, click on my name here and email me.
Anyway, you might ask what the microfiche of the catalog is for. Initially it was to find the TSB's, but they aren't in the catalog so Bill is going to do do more looking. However, the secondary reason was to find things that are missing in the CD versions of the catalog. Like the page in Section 60 that cross-references the engineering numbers stamped into the engine pulleys with the part numbers so you can look up the application. It is just flat missing in both CD versions of the catalog but is certainly there on the fiche, and yesterday I was able to find the part number and some applications for a pulley I have laying around. In addition, Ford's better idea on the catalog was to remove parts from it when they were no longer available. But in some cases those parts are still floating around, either NOS or used, and yet we can't ID them since both CD versions of the catalog are from the 1994 Final Version - the one with the max number of things deleted. However, that May of 89 version should have a lot of those things still in it. 😉
