I would try just sanding it with 1500 to 2500 grit sandpaper first. The anodizing may only need a slight sanding then polish to bring it back.
I'd use only oven cleaner as a last resort.
I've removed the anodizing on one grille piece and it was a pain to keep up the shine. I ended up changing it with a newer piece.
