1980 only. 1981 went to a plastic connector, and then in 1983 the clock itself changed to a plastic backing, buttons you can push with your finger, and a textured face plate. I think the wiring colors might have changed once or twice along the way as well, but I can't remember for sure.

I had this same clock in my 1980 F150, except it said "reset" on it. I never did get it to work. I put up a wanted add on one of the Bullnose pages on FB and had about a dozen experts chime in to tell me that somebody cobbled the trailer style plug on there and that it wasn't factory lol. ![]()

Thanks, Shaun. That's one of those little details I can't seem to retain. But I know they came with that kind of plug 'cause I put one of those in the '82 Explorer I had and used a cut-down trailer connector to hook it up.

Gary, Bullnose are full of surprises as you know;). What's amazing to me is how many people online will argue an incorrect point with such conviction! I usually just back out of the discussion and stroll away whistling lol.

I put a clock from a 1982 in my 1980 F150, long before I knew the differences. Luckily the connector for the clock harness down by the HVAC controls wasn't the rubber style. I used the 1982 clock harness, but can't remember if I swapped any pins around in the connectors. Never did get the clock to work, sadly.
I have the newer style clock for my F350 but hate how flimsy it feels. I like the metal backing version better. |

Yes, I've discussed things with some people who are absolutely SURE that Ford did or didn't do something. Personally I try to stick to the factory documentation as my source, and even then I know there are errors - and have documented plenty of them in my copies of the MPC, FSM, EVTM, etc.
And I also know that statements in Ford's documentation can sometimes be misleading. For instance, the date that slide locks were discontinued. The MPC says they went back to pin locks in March of '81. But we have examples of trucks built in July of '81 that still had slide locks.
So I try to be somewhat flexible.
