The driver's side front axle has a large plastic washer I don't see the service manual parts lists or illustrations.  I think it must be used to help guide the axle when reinserting into the front differential.  The original is cracked (38 years of Arizona heat will do that) and I'd like to replace it.  Any ideas what this is called and where I can buy these?

Is that slinger 4" outside diameter, 1 3/8" ID?

No, I don't think so.  The slinger is outboard from the axle yoke (item 3C132 in the exploded diagram).  

this washer is mounted between the differential and the yoke, on the on the longer axle shaft.

I found some mention of these washers on a couple of non-Ford user websites which indicate the washers are indeed used to align the axle and prevent the spline from scooping up crud as it is re-inserted into the front differential.

So it sounds like these washers are not strictly necessary but I'd still like to find a couple.

If it's just an aid when re-inserting the axle, why not make your own?

First, you say "drivers side"
Then you say "longer axle shaft"
... which is in the right hand beam.
So I'm not sure what you want, here.

And you are looking at a diagram for an HD axle (8-lug hubs)
Not that there are major differences, but you might find the correct diagram, if you're looking for part numbers.

Like Frank pointed out, 'why not make one?'
A jar lid from the recycle bin would work fine for something like that.

Yes I could make my own but if I could buy them for a couple of bucks, why waste the time trying to find plastic stiff enough to support the axle as it slides down the tube?

The driver's side axle is two sections joined by the U joint, the diff side of the two-piece axle is "longer" than the "shorter" spindle side.  the alignment washer lives on the longer piece.

You're correct that I printed the wrong illustration for my truck.  Good enough for reference though, as I reassemble the axle.

I just meant to suggest that perhaps the correct illustration would have the part you're looking for.
Not that what you've printed won't help you on reassembly.

Dana/Spicer used to have BOM's and illustrations for most all products on their site, but I haven't gone there in a long time.
Maybe you should check it out?

He has the correct illustration. Older Ford catalogs gave "typical views", not exact diagrams. Notice that it's titled F-U150/350. That means ALL Bronco, F150, F250, and F350.

ANYWAY - The part you're looking for is EOTZ-3C132-A.

Bear with me...this is my first foray into front axle work and its been an education so far.

The exploded view shows the slinger located on the spindle side of the U joint.  The washer I'm looking for was installed about 8" from the differential on the outside of the axle tube.

For giggles, I did a side by side comparison of what I think is the slinger (I'm learning, remember?) next to  the axle washer I'm looking for.  Slinger is black, axle washer is white.  A bit of a size difference for sure.

From what I can find on the axle washer, it seems to be more of a manufacturing aid than an actual part (which would explain why I can't find it on the drawings).  I think I'll take the advice of others and fabricate something.

It looks exactly the same.

The black one goes on the back side of the spindle. It's a thrust washer between the spindle and the stub axle.
