Connecting Rods???

Bruno2
Are the connecting rods numbered so they have to go in the hole they are designated for or is a rod a rod. Also is there a front and back to a rod? Can a rod be put in backwards?

From the factory, no. A rod is a rod, but standard practice for any machine shop involves stamping the rod and the cap with a number so that they get put back together in the same orientation. Reason is to preserve the roundness of the journal. Best practice is to stamp the number of the cylinder the rod came from although it would make little difference to use the rod and cap assembly in another spot providing all the machining was done correctly.
