Like the smell from a pool? I know that smell and the old fluid did not have it. In fact, I don't think I've ever encountered gear/trans lube with that odor.

Is there any chance that something is still available from Ford? My local dealer is into old Ford trucks big time. They had an open house and there was a Dent Side 4x4 on one of the racks, undergoing a full resto. The Sales Manager drives an unrestored 1960 F-250. I wonder if they might be tuned into what these old trucks need.
