Yippee! Glad you found it. I'll bet it fires off very nicely tomorrow.

I certainly hope and pray so. In other news, I've acquired a dual snorkel Moostang air cleaner. Trying to find a replacement for the vacuum solenoids on the snorkels, and the temp sensor thing in the air cleaner. I know that system isn't necessary, but it's cool and I'd like to have it.

That stuff is available.
I looked up similar just last week. The Mustang fanatics have a ready supply, if pricy. Go by the Motorcraft numbers

Cool. I wonder what temp thermostat would be best. I reckon higher temp for hotter climate?

There's a fair amount of info on our page at Documentation/Fuel & Air Systems/Air Cleaners. Go to the Part Numbers tab followed by the Other tab. There you'll find the temp sensors and their Ford PN's and some of the Motorcraft PN's.
As for which one, my thinking is that you want to get as constant of a temp as is possible so you can get the AFR constant. (It'll never be constant with a carb, but...) And since in summer you'll be pulling 110F air or more then I'd go with a 105F unit.

Well, having trouble finding any vacuum motor for a reasonable price. Found one Standard VA19, for a good price, but it's listed as being for a 4 cylinder car. Looks correct but don't want to order one and be wrong. Also is there any way to test the thermostat part?

not to oversimplify it but supply vacuum on one port set vacuum gauge to the other and add heat with a hair drier or heat gun.
|
Ok so to test if it closes with heat, correct?

Also, can one be fixed if it's bad? I doubt it but figured I'd ask.

Did you click on the Testing tab? That has some good ideas, and better ones than I could come up with.
But no, I don't think there's a way to fix a broken one.

Well apparently I forgot I had a bunch of these things laying around. Found two that appear to work.

If I recall, they're pretty much all calibrated at 105° f
Ford didn't care what temp it was as long as it was above ambient and could maintain a steady temperature in the carburetor That way the mix would remain the same and they could meet Federal standards

Finally fired it off today. Ran great but started to overheat, fan clutch was the culprit. Replaced it, and stayed right on 180. For the first time in over 2 years, the truck moved under its own power today. Gotta say the ZF definitely has a taller first gear than the T-19. It didn't want to idle, so I've got to play with the timing and fuel some. But I'm happy with that for today. Also, power steering didn't work at all. Belt is on, and pump full of fluid, but the wheel was very hard to turn. The pump didn't make any noise at all. Maybe just air?

Congratulations!! Such a good feeling.
But the power steering is probably due to air in the system. Put the front up on jack stands and turn lock to lock while the engine is running, monitoring the level of the fluid frequently.

Nice!
Don't turn the wheel with the engine off and a C2 pump, or it will pee out the vent in the cap, all over the place. I hope you get the pump sorted. It seems real odd that it could be airbound and silent.

Weeeeeelllllllll...when you've got open headers and you're revving it up to keep it from shutting off...it's possible that I just couldn't hear it.
