Hi David, all of my sixes have been pre-1984 and have the “in-ie” head pipe flange. This one has the “out-ie” head pipe flange. Do these still use a gasket? Do they seal any better to your knowledge?

I believe the later must have been thought by Ford engineers to have been an improvement. Neither my son's 1984 or my 1986 have ever had any leakage issues.

No flange gasket is used.
