1985 crew cab 4x4 - "Big POS"

Cbferd
This post was updated on .
Wanted to start a thread on my project, named by the fam. There have been many POS designations, but this one is "big".
Here is what I bought:  https://youtu.be/MI1oC5MZTYk?si=zi02EBF-CkmyE657
It is even cleaner than it looks in meaningful rust terms but has been in the sun A LOT. I'll put some pics of things I have done to it so far in posts below. Let me know if I can answer questions.

I had planned to swap in a supercharged coyote or a warmed-up godzilla, then lift it a little for more scaled wheels/tires and add some more modern hardware and comforts.  Junkyard motors were hard to get along with ECUs and the prices were high, but my fab equipment worked cheap so I started on suspension.

Pictures below sum up the change I made on front - stock leaf set up, then stripped to nothing, then back in with a reinforced Ford truck spring bucket, Bronco spring perches, cut/turned the ttb arms to keep the factory center pivot brackets for more ground clearance and wheel travel. All new springs and some fancy gas charged Bilsteins and this thing rides GREAT.

I ended up with a stock arch rear spring with the stock 2 inch block and about 2 inches of lift on the front to fit 35s on it with 17inch rims. Tires do not rub anywhere no matter what you run over or how sharp you turn. If I wanted to put up with some rubbing or bend/trim some stuff I might be able to get 37s on it. I doubt I will do serious off-roading with a 20ft long truck so this is plenty good.

Little odd picture of it unloaded so you can see stance of it empty. The blurry spot used to be a deer. Magic eraser is, uhm, interesting.
And then for those wondering if the truck still "works", here it is with a little over 2 yds of river rock in the back. 5k-ish lbs, close to bump stops, but not on them.

Then, the burned up rubber in the door and window seals let the carpet get wet. So, lets do the interior.
First is disassembled seats before rework (You can see whole interior in video on first post). Then a shot of "in progress" and the new insulated floor with heavy vinyl cover, then a view in driver door while in assembly.
I can get pictures of the new glass seals if anyone wants to see them, and more of interior when I finish putting mouldings back up if it helps anyone.

Looks good! I see you did to "Big POS" what I did to "Darth", later visors with the extra clip to support them and keep them from swinging around.
