I checked the stroke on this engine this morning just to confirm that it hadn't already been converted to a 300 at some point in 50 years, and it is indeed a 240. Not that I doubted it, but good to check it anyway.
Not doing much else with it at the moment but waiting. I'm supposed to be getting a damaged 1980 300 sometime soon and hope to scavenge the crank, rods, and other accessories from it.

Cory, you do know the frame mount for the motor mounts are different for the 240/300 than the 302.
If you don't have a set see if you can get them from the guy with the 300 if he is pulling the motor from a P/U. I know the 300 frame parts are a bolt on, not sure on the 302 ones as I don't have any to look over. Dave ----

On the 302, the passenger side is completely bolt on. However the driver's side is a mixture of bolts and rivets, and some of the rivets are also used to hold the engine crossmember together with the frame rails so you will end up removing some structural rivets.

Ford's instructions for that bolts to use to replace rivets are in this TSB: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/steering-gear-frame-liner.html

Dragged home the 300 parts engine today. Not sure yet what will be usable...maybe nothing. It had a rather rough removal unfortunately...so a bunch of the external stuff is smashed up. Hoping that the crank and rods are OK to swap into the 240. More to come...disassembly this weekend I think...
And I won't be needing this little doodad...if anybody needs or wants it for a spare let me know and I'll stick it in the mail. The truck was supposed to be fairly low mileage...something like 50k.

That bushing is like hens teeth!
I had to fix mine 2 times now. First was to get it back in shape to fit the plastic bushing back on the other was when the threads broke off the round part. Hope to never have to fix a 3rd time. Dave ----

I hear ya Steve. I swapped in a 5spd so I had no choice, but my truck being a 1984 it already had a hydraulic clutch anyway. I know there are some mechanical linkage clutch fans out there (I'm talking to you Dave!!), but me personally, I'd rip that linkage out of there faster than you could say hydraulic swap! I picked up a hydraulic clutch pedal assembly from a 1986 at the Junkyard last year. It will go in a project truck or it will simply be a spare. I would have also grabbed the hydraulic bellhousing but it was already gone.

I knew my ears were ringing for a reason LOL Yea not a fan of the hydraulic setup but if I had to then I would go for it. Dave ----

This has been my life the last year. I ended up with at 4x2 and hoping the 4x4 swap won't be too painful.

Ive got an 87 bronco my buddy and I may part out. 302, C6, complete 4x4 system that works. Needs a total rebuild, but all the parts are there. You can see it in the youtube video I posted on my channel. Look at my Little Blue 82 thread here.
