10"Air Cleaner option for HEI conversion.

After converting to HEI on my 351W, I had to switch to a 10" air cleaner.

They are all the same, Holly, Edlebrock, no-name. NONE of them identify the filter by a number!

But they all have a short filter.

After some searching, anything equivalent to an STP SA192.

3.5" high compensates for the loss in diameter.

Obviously I had to extend the mounting bolt.

Plenty of clearance to the hood brace with a 351?  

I know I don't have too much room with my 460, a 1" spacer and Edelbrock Performer intake using the stock air cleaner housing.

Well, I DID have to cut a 10.5" hole in the hood, (to account for old motor mounts!)

Seriously though, tons of clearance with 109 less cubes.

See under the hood before the carb and spacer were installed.
There's room for the taller air cleaner, plus 4 circus clowns.

Good to know that you've found a taller element that can make up for the pleated area of the stock (13"?) filter!
